Unfortunately, our muscles start deteoriating after they’re not used for extended periods of time. Too bad there wasn’t an automated discarding of our accumulated belongings that aren’t put to use!

Remain Active Walk in Tubs works to provide seniors of our community and around the nation with tips to maintain their lifestyles, health and independence. One of the most important steps towards independent living is keeping an exercise regimine.
Did you know that according to the NIH, US hospitals report 300,00o broken hips in the USA each year? Most broken hips are caused by slips and falls- most of which occur in the bathroom! Many factors combined could effectively reduce the number of bathroom falls in the USA. Properly placed bathroom safety products would elimate some of those falls, a walk in tub could safe a person the fear of stepping over the side of a tub, and the potential hazard of climbing out of one.
One of the factors that only requires your dedication and time is exercise! There are simple exercises that restore your muscle strength and will help you regain or maintain your balance.
Always check with your care provider before attempting any exercise program.

Side Leg Raises: strengthen muscles at sides of hips and thighs
- Stand straight, directly behind table or chair, feet slightly apart.
- Hold table or chair for balance.
- Slowly lift one leg to side, 6 to 12 inches out to the side.
- Keep your back and both legs straight.
- Don’t point your toes downward; keep them facing forward during this exercise. Hold this position.
- Slowly lower leg. Repeat with other leg.
- Keep back and knees straight throughout exercise.
- Alternate legs until you repeat exercise 8 to 15 times with each leg.
- Rest. Do another set of 8 to 15 alternating repetitions.
